He was right, after all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWonder if he heard you call \u2018m cute, Alex. You think he did?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019re despicable. And he\u2019s still a jerk.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Logan sighs, the moment broken as Alexander turns to glare at him. \u201cWhy d\u2019you hate him anyway?\u201d he asks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alexander takes a deep breath before speaking. \u201cThe first time I ever saw him talk was to tell someone that they were wrong. He acted like a prick while saying it too, all snooty and I\u2019m-better-than-you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cReally?\u201d Logan asks, incredulity sneaking into his voice. \u201cAre you sure? Maybe you didn\u2019t understand the situation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAnd how do you know him so well, huh?\u201d Alexander questions defensively, snapping his gaze away from Nolan. \u201cWhy were you so worried about him?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Logan shrugs. \u201cHe\u2019s a really nice guy. I\u2019ve seen him tutoring this one girl in the library- don\u2019t look at me like that! Neither of them seemed interested in each other, dude.\u201d Alexander flushes at Logan\u2019s words.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not jealous,\u201d Alexander grumbles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI didn\u2019t say you were, you did.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s- I don\u2019t care!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSure,\u201d Logan says with skepticism. \u201cAnyway, she tried to pay him after they were done, and he wouldn\u2019t take it. She shoved it into his bag when he wasn\u2019t looking.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alexander opens up his mouth to argue, but Logan starts speaking again. \u201cAnd he\u2019s done other things too. Like, if there\u2019s someone who looks like they\u2019re gonna cry, he\u2019ll try to get them out of the room. Or sometimes he\u2019ll just make a distraction.\u201d He pauses. \u201cDidn\u2019t you ever wonder why he was so obnoxious sometimes?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alexander closes his mouth. \u201cI\u2026 No. I didn&#8217;t.\u201d His mind flashes back to every time Nolan had spoken out, interrupting the teacher with a stupid question. \u201cIs that\u2026 does he really?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYeah,\u201d Logan says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alexander turns back to look at the boy on the bed.
