Alexander watches Nolan as he stumbles through picking up his stuff, an occasional wince thrown in every few moments. The blond’s eyes narrow in suspicion while he picks up his own laptop smoothly. Nolan almost trips as he shakily stands.
What’s he doing? Alexander wonders.
“I still think it’s unrequited love, Alex. It’s like one of those romance novels!” Logan’s cheerful chirp cuts into Alexander’s thoughts and he turns to face his mischievously grinning friend.
“I’m not in love with anyone. He’s a jerk, and I don’t like him.” Alexander’s words only serve to fuel Logan’s smirk.
“Denial is the first stage.”
Alexander opens his mouth to retort back when Nolan turns his head to look up at the pair still standing in the classroom.
“Come on, let’s go,” Alexander says instead. “I’m hungry.” His gaze drifts to Nolan, still looking quizzically towards them. They make eye contact for a moment, and for the first time that Alexander can remember, Nolan isn’t the first to look away. That in itself is stranger than all the rest of his behavior combined.
Alexander looks back to Logan in time to see his smug face staring directly at him. “Sure, sure, lover-boy. You wanna ask your stalkee along with us?”
“Screw you, Logan. I’m not a stalker. And no, we’re not asking him to lunch.”
Logan sighs loudly and throws a hand over his forehead with flair. “Oh, you’re so mean, Alex! Does our friendship mean nothing to you?”
