“You’re obviously not fine, you idiot,” Alexander snarls. Logan finally releases Nolan as he turns to look at the angry blond. Alexander reaches his hand up, ignoring the slight flinch from Nolan, and presses the back of it to Nolan’s forehead. “You’re burning up. Why’d you even come to class today?”
“‘M not sick,” Nolan protests as he pulls back. “It’s just… hot in here. And I’m tired.” Even as he speaks, his vision blurs a little bit more. “I’m fine.”
“Stop saying that!” Nolan’s flinch is a lot more pronounced, and slightly delayed at the shout. Alexander grabs Nolan’s shoulders harshly. “You’re not fine, so stop lying!”
“Alex-” Logan is cut off by the blond.
“Logan, let me talk!” His focus is redirected again at Nolan, who’s curling into himself, trying to look as small as possible. His laptop covers his stomach like a shield, protecting him from Alexander. “You’re not okay! Just…” Nolan’s breath hitches as Alexander’s voice trails off. “You’re not okay.”
Logan opens his mouth again, but closes it at his friend’s expression.
“I don’t like it when people lie to me. We’re going to the nurse.”
“I don’t need to go to the nurse! Just let me go eat lunch and I’ll be fine!”
“No, you won’t!” Alexander shouts, his grip tightening on Nolan’s shoulder. The raven-haired boy suppresses a wince as his headache somehow blooms exponentially.
“Alex!” Logan reaches forward, placing his hand on Alexander’s larger one. He steps forward, into Nolan’s line of vision. “How about we all just, I don’t know,” Logan trails off for a moment. “Let’s just go to the nurse to make sure you aren’t dying, alright Nolan?”
